If you buy a lot of stuff from Amazon (I do), this is a good deal. Not everything sold by Amazon is covered by jungle monkeys, but enough. The video streaming has a large number of choices. Most are losers, so this is no reason to get it.

Getting Prime is really bad for your budget. Impulse buy goes way up. I should know. I'm on my 3rd year of membership.

Prime video is a bonus. Don't get Prime just for the video.

You also get to borrow Kindle books, but only if you own a Kindle device.

Won't work if you had a trial membership in recent past. They charged me $79 and when I called they had no idea about the promotion and $10 gift card. They were nice enough to offer to cancel prime but I kept it. They were nice to give me a $10 store credit instead of the gift card which can be used for items sold and shipped by amazon.

They are kind of sneaky about it.. I click on start my free membership.. then it doesn't say sorry, not available if you've tried before.. just some more buttons for starting a $79/year membership. every couple of years I get another free trial.. and its fun while it lasts...

#2 couldn't be more right. I have also been a jungle monkeys for 3 years. I have bought more crap on impulse purchases because of my thought "oh man, I can get this in 2 days!". Or even better, "only 3.99 for next day delivery? Heck yeah! (for some things).

They don't do $4 for overnight anymore (on everything). Some things are still $4, but there are plenty of things that go as high as like $15 now.

Yet they charge the same $80 as when they started Prime. Hmm...

^ They're counting on raising shipping prices to pay for their new warehouses in more states so it costs them less to ship stuff and costs you more up front in state tax. Makes perfect sense, right?
