If you can see the difference an extra 120 lines on a 24" makes, you're sitting too close to your monitor, or you should join the Army and be a sniper.
Almost nobody uses 16:10 monitors these days, so 1200 lines is obsolete.
^ Don't think i'd ever call more vertical pixels obsolete, unless it's used exclusively for watching 16:9 video.
On the other hand, sremick seems to think small monitors should cost an arm and a leg which makes little sense to me unless you have a specialized application where you can't fit anything larger than 24", or live off-grid so every watt of power savings matters.
If the latter, get a monitor with a separate 12V PSU brick instead of internal AC-DC PSU, and run it straight from a battery without the brick instead of through an inverter to 110VAC then back down to low voltage DC internally.
