GameStop has the 32GB PlayStation Vita Memory Card for $40 with free shipping. Usually $70+. Sony goes proprietary once again with their memory cards, at least this time you'll cut yourself a deal and hopefully never buy one again.

Reason with IBM computer/laptop didn't take off because of their "proprietary" design. IBM PS1 & PS2 that first 2 letter short for you guess it. Sony are stepping on IBM S* good luck.

Most of "proprietary" features of PS1 was the placement of the power supply. Otherwise they were using run of the mill solutions. And guess what, the PS/2 connectors are still in wide use. I wouldn't say that IBM failed with their line, it's just they found it hard to compete with Compaq and others for a variety of reasons.

As to Sony... I think they committed a mortal sin when deciding to use a wholly proprietary memory card format. That's just obscene. There is something disgustingly cheap in trying to nickel and dime you on a tech purchase.

^ Have you try to install SB, Adaptec SCSI card in PS1 running Win 3.1? and deal with uncompatible PCMCIA card on their Thinkpad. Even though back then all peripheral are label as IBM compatible but some just don't seem to work with IBM machine, where as Compaq, HP, NEXT, DELL, Leading Edge, Packard Bell, Tandy and many others does not seem to have that problem.
