Read the reviews. It's a pretty good machine but has a cheap plasticky feel. Otherwise, it works pretty well. This one also has a great forum: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-book-t100/

It's also the most amazingly bad fingerprint magnet that I have ever known. A Skinomi skin and a matte screen protector fixed that.

For me $330 is now a little too high, since 2013 Black Friday set the max price at $299. Sure I know BF is BF, but it really does set a price to look for and beat.

Having said that it's a hell of a lot of capability for the buck: Running full blown windows 8.1 efficiently really means that unless you're a power/game user, it will fit a good range of user needs. Indeed, when it comes time to move to the next device, it would continue to be useful, maybe as a streaming media player, has miracast, will be great for casual surfing - ie the sitting room role. That battery life is phenomenal. I am seriously DONE with devices that have battery lifes of < half a working day.

If I were a casual user, or someone who wanted to travel with a "it's light enough and if it gets stolen, I won't cry that much" device that does just about everything then it's a great device. I was looking at it for commuting - again perfect for the job. With the XP support demise earlier this month, I cannot help but think that there are MANY people out there with oldish laptops, asking themselves whether they should upgrade, buying a $100 copy Win 8/7, possibly pay for old now pricey DDR2 SODIMM memory and then pay/ask someone to backup data, install the OS, reinstall software etc etc. Seems to me that many of these expenses could be better spent on buying a T100. Better battery life, probably be faster, lighter and a new version of MS Office.

Microsoft take note: ideal opportunity to team with Asus for an exceptional promo here for Windows XP users - a real opportunity to get home users up to speed on the latest Windows & office here and improve Microsoft's reputation for security. Bit of a win win all round. Take it down to $250 to clear stock ready for the next gen of z3745 and z3775 Baytrails.
