5 Watt speakers? No wonder it's on sale. Who'd buy them at the list price?

Who would buy them at the sale price? The thing is made of cardboard. The kicker is you have to assemble it yourself.

It's one of those novelty gift items that can never be rationalized in value:cost ratio, tho' arguably now the value:cost has to be higher than it was.

I had R/C airplanes made out of card board that fly like a champ. I bet the designer made sure the speaker space and bass reflex frequencies are in spec with the speakers and amp. Someone said 5 watt speakers no wonder its on sale. The amp is probably matched to the speakers and they will have enough drive.

Looks like fun, if I had the cash I would have one coming my way for my old iPod.

Its definitely a novelty. It would do better especially at louder volumes with a solid box but it would definitely be great for a project to do with a kid. It could be a bargain in that some of the smaller full range drivers arn't all that cheap. Look up the HiVi B3N - well reviewed at 10$ a piece plus shipping. These are 3" drivers from documentation from berlinboombox.com. I'm tempted to buy it to work on it with my nephew.
