    I'm always surprised by how few people used pressure cookers. You can use it to tenderize cheap cuts of beef. Cooks super fast. Tree huggers should appreciate how little energy they use. And there's always a chance it will explode and kill everyone in the vicinity.

    Nonetheless, I prefer the stainless steel to the aluminum ones.

    They don't explode anymore. Like everything else, they have progressed to the point where you cannot open them until they lose pressure.

    We frequently use pressure cookers in various sizes as the situations demand. My mother and grandmother used them, too. Follow the directions and they are completely safe. One should note, however, that many of the units sold today do not achieve the 15 psi (250 deg. F. @ sea level) assumed for many of the recipes you'll find for them. So it's best to be sure that your unit isn't a 10 or 12 psi pot. There are on-line sites that evaluate these things and the spec. sheets should tell you, too.

    i have been always using pressure cooker, they are great!
    cook well, save time and mostly it saves energy.
