    I haven't used the 20v stuff, but most of B&D's batteries are very similar mechanically, and I bet you could slide the common 18v batteries into this thing just by nibbling a notch somewhere.

    The LED driver is almost certainly a buck type driving a significantly-lower-voltage LED; it looks like 9 individual emitters, probably as a 3S3P arrangement with current-sharing resistors per leg. So it should be fine with the lower 18v supply, although if it's a "dumb" resistor-only arrangement, it'll be somewhat (perhaps significantly) dimmer.

    BTW, 70 lumens out the front means roughly 1 watt. This is no powerhouse, it's strength is convenience and positionability.

    It probably is a dumb resistor arrangement, given the series/parallel LED array.

    I'd prefer it a bit brighter but the other strength is "and 11 hours of runtime", enough for a full day's work and/or a fair amount of usable light without having to charge it right before use.
