    I think their horsepower rating is a lot like cheap amplifiers wattage claims. It takes just short of 800 watts to produce 1 HP, so at 1560, 3 HP would not be possible. I imagine they are talking locked rotor watts which doesn't tell you anything about how this would work. Anyone familiar with real HP knows that 3 HP would throw your ice cube through the blender jar, and probably into the next nearest town.

    My sink disposal is only 3/4HP and it grinds chicken bones and olive pits. Why would anyone need a 3HP blender?

    I've used this and a Vitamix, both from Costco. I like the Vitamix better, returned the blendtech

    The popularity of these blenders mainly came from all the viral videos. They started as commercial-grade blenders. I've seen them in action. I agree with most comments here. They're fine, but you can do better cost-wise if it's home use.
