The only thing i would caution people is that i do not believe they can operate passively. When the battery dies, they are a dead. Each AAA battery lasts like 40-50 hours though, so it isn't as big a deal as some say. Please do your research, I think that was the reason I bought the QC25 years ago instead of these. That being said, the combination of sound quality, comfort and form (size) is unparalleled. They sounded identical to the newer QC25 to me. I hear the new Sony models are great, but they are much larger in size and I didn't find them as comfortable.

There was one other thing I forgot: The cable for the headphones is pretty specialized with this model. The one for the QC25 is also somewhat specialized, but not as hard to get a hold of.
BTW - I am being very critical of a wonderful set of headphones here.

A) 40+ hour battery life (near-industry leading), but no passive mode - NOTE: You are warned ahead of time, and I believe the case has a slot for an extra AAA battery.

B) The user needs to take care of your cable so you don't have to go look for a new one
If you can live with this faults, these headphones are almost HALF the price of the QC25 that allow passive mode. They are darn-near the most comfortable headphones out there, and the noise cancelling is (still) near-best in the industry. Sound quality is balanced and very easy on the ears. If I lost my QC25's today, I would buy these in a second and not miss the newer model ones.
