Amazon has the Canon EOS 60D 18.0MP DSLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS UD Standard Zoom Lens for $899 with free shipping. Body only is $699 and Camera with 18-200mm Lens is $1099 with free shipping.
18.0 MP CMOS, DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor, up to ISO 6400
Vari-angle 3.0" LCD, SD/SDHC/SDXC, Live View Shooting
1080p HD Movie Capture, HDMI output, 3.5" mic input
I really like my 60D but the 18-135 kit lens is slow to focus and doesn't always focus well under flash conditions.
Think one would be much happier with the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 Image Stabilized USM SLR Lens for $515 and the 60D body-only for $700. The 18-135 simply isn't worth $200.
Watch for sales, I snagged a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for $144. Its comparable to the 18-135 and for $150 is worth having in the bag for telephoto shots.
Although that's not a bad deal Cat, I'll say this in general:
If you're going to purchase a DSLR you'll want to match up a lens to the quality of the body. If you've gone as far as to get a good one, you should go as far as getting a lens to match.
Check out
- Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD --if you can swing 450
- Canon 70-200mm f4 L IS --if you can swing twice that. Holds value well, and uses functions on your DSLR and optional flash you didn't know you had. May be only lens you need.
I'd rather have a used one of the above for about the same price. I've learned this after a few years of penny pinching different subpar lenses. You have no "prized" lens doing that. The above is wisdom, folks -free of charge.
Is this one 10 better than the 50D?

Interloper - I bought the Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di ii VC PZD. Not a Luxury lens but it has the wide angle and the telephoto. Great walk around lens.
.
If it works for you, that's really all that matters.
But be warned with all-in-one lenses. That kind of range has always been (and always be?) questionable.
I personally would have got a used Canon 70-200mm f4 L IS for about that exact same price.
..f\4 throughout the whole zoom range, no physical extending of lens, water/dust proof, IS mode 2, sharp, and sexy (yes, used can be)
