So Costco gives you a free chicken, 35 bottles of water and 48 AA batteries. Great deal Ben. What does National Membership mean? I may join after all these years.

This is the best deal they have. It only occurs once a year at the most. NM doesn't mean anything special.

That's a good deal. Currently a membership is $55/year and it's for two people not just one. The rest would be freebies. Buy your gas there and you'll more than get your membership fee back over the year. Good service, great refund policy. Like the place myself and in my case it's just down the road.

i gave up on them when i figured out that buying the same smaller items that go on sale with double coupons saves me a heck of alot more.

Can anyone tell me what the "...and more" is. I wouldn't use the chicken. The batteries and water sound good. But perhaps the "and more" aren't worth much to me either. I am already a BJs member and was considering Costco. This would sell me, but only if their deal's coupons are useful.

Not the biggest fan of Costco, Great customer service, probable; its the best. some great deals like the chicken for 5 bucks, and its is rated the best chicken deal. The bad, everything is to large, I don't need this volume. I feel I never get back my membership in savings, so I quit a few years ago as I found I saved more by checking adds and not having a 5lb bag of carrots. But this is a good deal for one year, for two people, I don't think they have to be a spouse.

I buy these gallon containers of Kraft mayo from Walmart (they are a nice shape) and then when they are finished use them to store rice and things like that that I buy in bulk from BJs so that there are no bug issues etc. and it is easy to store.

you can save more in other stores when they have weekly sales

you will spend at least $200 in Costco and wait 30 minutes in check out lines

if you look around you can beat their prices elsewhere

There is also a matter of factoring in the time and effort involved in getting the saving. If you stock up on a year's worth of gravity compost paper at your supermarket when it is on sale you can shop casually and wait for the next deal, but you can't do that for all items. And I find that yeast is significantly cheaper at BJs to the point that the savings could probably pay for the membership compared to your average supermarket.

Time and money saved is priceless when you have kids. Costco isn't the cheapest but they have everything that you can think of that most people would use. Walmart won't have the same return policy and nor would you find that anywhere else.

Of the 3 whse clubs, Costco is the best. I wish they were closer 'cuz I aint driving an hour to get there. Their pharmacy Rx prices are usually rated the lowest.

BJ-s here is the worst: lousy selection and nasty ppl. "working" there; if U can find them.

ALL have slow checkout compared to the major grocery stores here. This can kill any time savings ^ per above comment.

Working w/coupons can be OK if U happen to find them, but large amts. are usually limited and depends on the area U are in for the deals to show up at the time U need stuff.

Not everything in Costco is cheap and not everything has the best prices anywhere. However, you can return anything with no questions asked and their quality tends to be a lot better overall.

Besides that they pay their employees well and give them health benefits and stock options. People tend to stay there a lot longer because they see it as a real career rather than a stopover to something better.

    Free Rotisserie chicken = $5
    48 pack of batteries= $15 http://www2.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=11285439&whse=BD_823&topnav=bdoff
    36 bottled water= $8 maybe?

What is the other "and more" that is worth $22?

I am so fed up with companies that disrespect their customers by offering special deals to only non-customers. [insert 4 letter word] Costco and [insert 4 letter work] any company that thinks they can take their customers for granted.

what happens if you were previously a Costco member in 2012, quit, and now want to sign up again with this offer. Am I considered a new member? I never actually quit it. I just never paid my renewal fees and never hard workerto Costco again.

Getting gas there seems like a good idea, until you continually find a gas line that is 3+ cars deep. I can't spare 30 minutes to fill up my tank.
