Has it bundled with a AMD A10-7700K Kaveri and the combo drops to $117 -AR$10. However that's not any great deal, when at MicroCenter I'll get that APU and the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Mobo for that price.

Not that I'd use this for any heavy OC'n, though should be nicer than stock while only 144mm tall. For a 95W load (the max I'd try it for) and small size it's average performance, but it is better on Db than stock or even a say the CM Hyper TX3 (139mm). Most complaints on Eggviews is the Intel snap-pins, this with the AM2 is good as that bracket screws to the cooler. Making what's normally AMD single point style contact a lot more stable in my mind. My thing would be clean off their compound a use some Artic Silver 6, I think it might offer a little extra performance.

I did a A10-7700K in a Zalman T5 Mini Tower with a PowerColor R9 270 2GB TurboDuo that we OC'd. Went with the stock cooler as where holding to a $350 budget, but that box still offers mighty 1080p gaming. Might tell the kid to pick this up just to bring down some noise. I used a CSM 450W 80+ Gold Modular I purchased back end of Nov for $25, had intend it for another project but sold it to him for my rebate price.

Always smooth the cooler base on some fine abrasive paper on a flat surface (like a window pane) before install to get as much surface contact as U can.

^ As this is a direct touch I'd only consider that useful after it has thoroughly "heat soaked" and the pipes and crimps has had a chance to distort and settle. Better direct touch manufactures (not sure if Deepcool does or at this price range) will subject them to a simulated heat to have that happen then do the final surfacing.

I always lap a new heatsink before use... It might not end up "as" good as after a burn in but to me it's just too much hassle to take it back off the CPU, clean off thermal compound, then do the reverse only to save a small # of degrees since I never set up a build where it'd be that close to an excessive temperature.
