Garmin is releasing new models in the 2nd qtr, get rightly for sales of the older models.
I've had this unit for 2+ years and love it. It works great, maps are easily updated via internet, and it's only frozen up on me once. Great deal at this price.
I paid a lot more for this back in the day. Only semi-reliable performance (either drops you off too early or too late)and it is VERY slow in acquiring satellites. This gps chip is over two generations old, so move on to something newer.
I have one for ~ a year, only thing i dislike is the volume too low.
Great GPS from 2-3 yrs ago.
I bought this 6 months ago from Amazon. Map data was old. One major route in a major US city that was completed last summer was not in the database. Garmin's site doesn't offer a free map update even though the product shipped with old maps. I had to go through their registration hoops just to find out I was not eligible for free map updates on a new product.
I can't even complain via email to them because their user contact form is broken.
#6 I got a free map update on a refurb unit last year. Not sure what was up with your purchase.
This POS got me lost again. It will now find its new home at the bottom of the trashcan. I know why the Garmin refurb market is more popular than their new one.
