Can't imagine very many people have a real need for this nowadays. I mean, if you have a smartphone, you have the same capabilities.

Might be handy if you're war driving and don't want to leave a (more) valuable phone sitting on your dash as an incentive to thieves.

^ Don't you need to be in the driver's seat while War Driving? Seems like that would be a deterrent to someone stealing the phone from your dash. I think Google is still working on a car that could be War Driven from your Lazyboy or porcelain throne.

^ you can leave this on the dash instead of having to hide it away when you aren't in the car.

^ Problem is, a potential thief may have no idea what it is and that it's only a $5 gadget. Could look appealing enough to warrant a break in. It's never a good idea to leave anything that is - or looks like it is - of value in a vehicle. And aside from this, is it so very hard to take your phone off the dashboard?

^ There's no way I'm clearing every tiny little thing worth $5 out of sight in a vehicle just in case a thief wonders what something is. No it's not hard to take your phone with you, but I also wouldn't end up taking it with me every time I'm out of my vehicle for a short period of time if it were on the dash.

For example "IF" I had it on the dash and pulled into a gas station to go inside for a minute, it would stay on the dash... vehicle wouldn't even get locked. If instead it was in my pocket, it'd come with me.

If that doesn't work for your situation then I can understand a different strategy.
