Google is now shipping out the Google Wallet debit card. Much like PayPal, you add money to your Google Wallet from a linked bank account (no fee), then you spend your "Wallet Balance" anywhere MasterCard is accepted or withdraw from an ATM (no fee from Google but the ATM probably charges one). No annual fee.

I'm not sure why I'd want to use this over a normal atm or debit card. Can anyone think of what the value is to a consumer to use this?

    Thinking out loud here:
    1) Turn your rebate card into cash?
    2) If you lose your card, you can instantly go online and lock your account yourself?
    3) If someone steal your card/wallet, they don't have direct access to your bank accounts info? You can always replace with another Google card and redirect your bank accounts to that? No hassle of cancelling bank accounts?
    4) Can combine multiple accounts into 1 Google card so if you don't have enough money in 1 account for your purchase, the Google card will since it will withdraw money from both accounts?
    5) Future promotions from Google for using this card?

Except at Costco, I never use my debit card. If you don't have a propensity for overusing credit cards, they are the way to go, esp. with the various points/rebates/offers etc. just about any card comes with. I use primarily an Amazon Visa card and racked up a helluva lot of points worth literally $1,200 or so, in the space of 3-4 years. Unless Google really sweetens their Wallet somehow, I just don't see why people would jump on it.

I know it's a MS thing but....man, bring back Bing discounts!!!

Couldn't agree more. I use credit cards for everything. Automatically set to pay full balance every month. It is just about control. Better security and the points rule. Accrued about $1,000 worth this year over various cards, but the Amazon is my go to card.

I have a feeling this may be involved in future promotions so we may see this "forced" onto us for deals.

What I would like to know is how good is Google customer service in general?
If we're dealing with money, I most certainly want to talk to a live person located in the United States for help.

Doesn't this card get attached to your Google wallet? I already have a debit card linked to my Gwallet and my physical debit card too. Not seeing the value here.

of course there is no value here for YOU, the entire process is slanted toward google, as if they don't have their collective noses deep enough up your A$$ already?
Jump on it fools ~ yeah, you know who you are, the ones who stand in line to buy uneeded JUNK as it is directed for you to do so, and the ones who continue to support this INSANE BUYING OF REFURBISHED TRASH, even after you have felt the pain of being anally RAPED.
M, then again, perhaps that pain is something some obviously ENJOY.
In that case, BEND OVER, RELAX ~ IT IS CUMMING YOUR WAY SOON.

There needs to be some reward incentive. For now I will stick with a rewards credit card.
