$150 price drop. Logitech has the Logitech Transporter SE: Network Music Player for $1000 - $150 off with coupon code logi_tse_112812 [Exp 12/1] = $850 with free shipping. Features dual fluorescent displays, backlit infrared remote, support for rack mount brackets, Ethernet/Wi-Fi and 120db dynamic range. Normally $1000.
Looks like they discontinued the entire squeezebox line. Too bad.
Wow, my $600 receiver does all of this at no additional cost. I am guessing the only people interested in this are the rich guys with analog pre-amps and tube amplifiers.
but this one floats in the air.
Romney has many of this in his multiple houses, even in the bathrooms.
If you don't know what it is, then don't make stupid comments. This has a high end DAC, as well as a squeezebox client. It can be used with a number of components like a CD or DVD player. $850 is a good price, and yes, discontinuing the squeezebox line is a shame as there is nothing else does the same thing in the same price range. Also has XLR outputs, so can feed some high end amps.
^ Yeah, that high end $2 DAC makes it worth at least $xXxX
AK4396 DAC at Digikey, $2 in manufacturing quantity of 1,000 (or $5 for a quantity of 1)

My main gripe though is that it uses a custom vacuum fluorescent display which is probably going to be the first failure point (vs LCD or LED display), though probably not within the first few years unless it's always lit up.
Scotty had me buy this as a backup for the Transporter Room.
