Mag-Lite's are wonderful flashlights. They finally realized that they would have to produce an LED version.
I found my first bulbed one on the road where a truck had run over it. A little scuffed, but it worked fine.
Oh, and shipping is free for primates

What are the shipping rates for non-primates?

Mag-Lite is a good example of what's happened to American industry. At one time, Mag-Lite was the standard of the quality, high-end flashlight market and were able to charge high prices. But they got corky and took way too long to switch to LEDs.

Then, the market got flooded with similar, machined-aluminum Chinese flashlights for a fraction of the cost of a US-made Mag-Lite. It was a one-two punch and now Mag-Lite is on the ropes, scrambling to stay relevant.

^ Those generic Chinese lights are substantially lower in quality. Maglites are professional grade, something you can depend on working all day, every day for many years.

The generics on the other hand will break if dropped at the wrong angle, after a few hundred switch cycles, or if you just look at them funny. Their waterproof ratings are usually non-existent or fictional, and their lumen ratings absurdly, fraudulently overrated.

You can get a high quality alternative to a Maglite, including one that is brighter, but not for only $21. If you doubt this then show us what you consider equal or better quality in a 3D cell light for the same cost. This form factor is not for everyone, but Mag also makes other form factors.

^ So true. Nine out of 10 law enforcement personnel accused of police brutality or excessive use of force prefer Maglite. They're practically indestructible when used as a baton. The inferior imports tend to self-destruct when used to beat up alleged perpetrators.
