How durable are these? I love me some smoked meats, but know that some electric models tend to require new heating elements frequently.

for the cheap price of these electric sockets you could afford to replace them every couple of years ever of the elements go out. I guess the bigger problem is that you don't know when they will go out, and you will likely have a hungry crowd at your house waiting for some delicious pulled pork and brisket.
