If you've not spent time with it (more than 5 minutes) you don't know what you are talking about. Win 8 is solid. The Start screen (Metro) is a minor irritation, and if you don't like it then it is easily bypassed. Google it. This is a nice price. I agree that if you are on Win 7 then there is no reason to upgrade, but 8 is not crap.
