remember wired is always better, even if you have to wrap the cable around the neighbors house and car 5 times before running it back in the other side of the house. haha
Ethernet runs can go up to ~333 ft before a powered router/switch needs to be used for a repeater.
re: awestun -- these devices give you the benefit of wired without the wiring. Running ethernet cable isn't always easy OR aesthetically pleasing. I live in an apartment, and I'm not going to be running ugly ethernet cable here there and everywhere. I have these units and they work fantastically in my place (YMMV). My cable modem and router are in a bedroom, and my Roku and other entertainment devices are a few rooms down in the living room. I get 195 mbps to the living room from my gigabit router/Netgear ethernet/powerline adapter. From there, I use a 5-port switch to feed my other devices. Works great. Streams Netflix flawlessly, as well as feeding my laptop in the living room with great throughput. Highly recommended.
