Ben's Bargains Serving Fresh Deals 24/7
You might've noticed a few changes around here. At the top of the home page there's an easy-to-use slider where you can view the hottest offers of the day. Just below that, click the "Open Page Filter," and you can pick and choose what product categories and merchants you want to see for a customized Ben's Bargains shopping experience.

Tell me what you like about the new features!

Awesome update! You might want to tweak the filters so your administrative news and announcements don't ever get blocked.

Whats up with the random blue accents on Ben's sig line ? I find it distracting.
For that matter why is there a Ben sig line on each and every post? Couldn't that space be better used for displaying more deals?

I reiterate what SuperRu said. The blue bars are distracting. They create a box around text and images of two separate deals, completely the wrong thing to do, slowing the users ability to scan the page for the deals that interest him.

I haven't tried the filter, but the scrolling hot deals at the top of the page is a waste of space from the point of view of the shopper. It "appears" to be a series of ads and that you are trying to sell us products from companies that pay extra. The scrolling is much slower than the user can scan the regular ads so it wastes the users time. Get rid of it or put it somewhere that its not wasting space. At least the user can scroll it off the screen easily and choose not to look at it at all. Better yet, give the user a way to hide it completely until he changes his mind.

I like your site because it is fast and simple. Easy to see the deals and get on with my day, and spend some money on the deals that I find quickly.

I wish programmers would stop fixing things that are not broken to justify their existence.

Nice work - thanks for the upgrades, great bargains and humorous (semi-relevant) deal thumbnails we've all grown to love!

I also find the blue bars distracting. It's difficult to focus on the deal. But I LOVE this site! Thanks for your hard work I hope it's paying off handsomely for you!

    Whats a sig line?
    What blue bars?

I would rather Ben spend a little time to put a slight, very slight time delay in the mouseover script for the menus. Every single time I move my mouse over these they hit bens server and pop up the menu. I want to be able to move to my browser bars and tabs without the menu droping down on screen.

Another nice feature is to put the side menus into divisions and then hide these when the user wants to print a page. After printing the divisions can be made visible again. You can use the javascript onbeforeprint and onafterprint events to do this very easily.

    Blue bars?

Another anoying feature is to have a title (tool tip) that repeats the text you are mousing over. for example when you display Walmart as a link and you mouse over it the title (tool tip) says ... Walmart ... like how is this helpful?

Filters could be helpful but please remove the expired deals. The 75% off Timberland @ 6pm is expired.
