I'm interested in hearing people's opinions on which is better, Nikon DSLR, or Canon DSLR? Thanks in advance!

It depends actually on which fanboy you talk to.

I have the Nikon D90 so you can just guess which one I'd go with?

My Nikon is an Awesome Camera!

I've got a Nikon D90 and love it. Both Canon and Nikon make excellent DSLRs. I suggest you go to a store and handle each to see which you prefer. Size, grip and control layout varies between brands and models. Price ranges vary for both brands as well.

Looks like a nice lens, by the way. I got myself a Canon 50D and have no regrets (but it's more expensive that this toy).

Canon or Nikon? It depends on what are you going to use the camera for or what settings on the camera when taking pics.

Ok, we've got the answer to the first question. Here comes the 2nd, why we don't see Canon deals anymore? It's been quite some time we only see Nikon deals here.

The kit lens with this camera is $150 about anywhere. Decent deal on an entry level Nikon SLR. Still think the Nikon D200 body deal from Best Buy is a better deal.

#7, I bought this last time around and I absolutely have no regrets. Posted this on the older thread:

I ordered this from J&R on the 4th and got it two days later. The camera and lens look 100% brand new, with no scratches anywhere - not on the body, the LCD screen, even the bottom of the camera. According to the EXIF data from my first picture, the D60 only had 17 actuations on it - meaning that it was either hardly touched before going through the refurb process, or Nikon had replaced the shutter and done 17 test shots before declaring it ok. Either way, it was like getting a brand new camera. And yes, the lens is VR.

I think the 90-day Nikon warranty will be sufficient, but if you want a 1-year seller warranty on top of that, check the Used&New section of Amazon for the D60 and get it from Cameta.

#13 - While this isn't Nikon's top of the line, it's certainly not "entry level". Try doing a little more research. Besides, technique trumps gear every time, and lenses are more important than camera bodies.

Hell, Amazon ran a $399 special on the Pentax K2000 (basically the K10D minus a few details), which includes a hot-shoe flash. It sold out extremely quickly.

#15 - This is the entry level DSLR for Nikon. It's just the newest entry level DSLR for Nikon.. same class as the D40x before it and the D40 before that. #13 had his research. Practice a little more of what you preach genius.

#17 - Semantics. If the D60 improves on the D40, which it does, then it's not the entry-level model. Is it worth the premium (new) over the D40? It's arguable. If the D40 was no longer being sold and the D60 was the lowest-priced Nikon DSLR, I'd be inclined to agree with you. Either this or the D40 above would be good buys at this price point...

I had a D80 and major amp noise issue at high exposure/high ISO. Sold it and got the D90 and love it.

Also love my dad's XTi, which I started with. Just got a Nikon instead of XSi to try something different.

So, Canon vs Nikon, I'll put a very slight edge on Nikon because they have fisheye lens. Other than that, PS the fisheye or get a fisheye filter adapter
