^ Does it matter so long as it doesn't leak? I figured it was just small time web reviewers who order one to do a review then return it, or just a stock surplus they want to clear out so they slap the refurb designation on it to not devalue the full retail priced alternative... sort of like Logitech does.
One of these days I keep meaning to put together a DIY CPU cooler with a ready made water block, but then a passive external radiator for a small car, but run something non electrically conductive and non corrosive in it like mineral oil, even if the performance is lower than with water.
I could use clear tubing, automotive UV inspection dye, and true UV LEDs to make the liquid glow. Then again I don't know how well clear tubing resists UV (or oil for that matter), probably not very well if it's vinyl.
I could research all that, but it's easier to stick with a standard heatpipe tower 'sink. I haven't felt the need to do outrageous overclocks since the beginning of the quad core CPU era.
