We normally stay away from current events, but this one caught our attention quite literally since we're in SF. During lunch I tried to catch a glimpse of the torch along its planned route starting at AT&T Park, however much to my dismay the authorities whisked it away from the protesting throngs to a backup route. Some pics: 1 2 3 4 5 6.

Lady Hillary protested Iraq war after she supported couple years ago. I don't believe the people who protested Iraq ware right now did the same thing while the war starting.

#79, the people protesting against China are generally the same people opposed to the United States government policy regarding the Kyoto Treaty and the Bush administration. You are ignorant.

#80, 82, etc. There were many more and bigger protests before and at the beginning of the war than there are now. There were protests numbering in the hundreds of thousands here. Hillary Clinton does not represent those people. You are ignorant, incoherent, and redundant.

Seriously, if Tibet was wiped off the face of the Earth, would anyone really notice? Tibet, just like Taiwan, needs to behave like a good Chinese province. On their own they cannot survive. FACT!

    ignorant, incoherent, and redundant,
lawnsprinkler, those are the words you guys nice people talk other people? Don't say there are more people protested before war than that because more USA people's son die at Iraq. I am not a child. People usually do it because they lose more. That is reasonable.

Tibet has not been an independent country since they allied themselves with Kublai Khan's Mongol hordes. They invaded China back then and the Chinese got revenge, all 1000 years ago. Who cares about a bunch of yak herders who converted to buddhism? Maybe China should withdraw and let McDonalds, Disney, and WalMart take over the place! Come on people, can we fouce on our land 1st??? I just paid $4/gal gas today.

#9 you are a moron. Like we aren't doing our part in contributing to the problem regarding pollution. Yeah it sucks that they have spies trying (and succeeding) to steal our tech and all that cal, but if you think that they are the only ones doing that, dude... you are ignorant numero uno. That's hardly a reason to go nuke a country. Go get educated.

Let's free Iraq and lower the oil price first!
Than free Japan and lower price on Toyota and Honda. Finially free China so we don't have to pay back our debt.

#89, it's a fact. Though anti-war sentiment wasn't reported as much in the media prior to, and at the beginning of the war, there are newspaper accounts from back then, early 2003. Read them. The people that protested before the beginning of the war were not just protesting about American lives but also because of Iraqi lives. Since then, more people are against the war, but more people protested before the war.

There are a bunch of chinese nationals on this board leaving crap messages about how awesome china. You can tell it's them by:

    1. Their shitty English.
    2. They sound like the chinese government officials..."China does not oppress the people of tibet."
    3. China is awesome.

This has been the best post in the history of the NBA. Ben - I salute you.

    - One of the reasons why SF was chosen was due to its large Chinese population. The people attacking SF for whatever reason: WOW. The fact that the city is liberal = irrelevant (what, are you telling me that the Republicans/Democrats have a stance on this issue?) It IS politically active, but no one got hurt (seriously), nothing was lit on fire (except, of course, torches), etc. edit: people expressed themselves

THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS IN A FREE COUNTRY. YOU CAN SPEAK YOUR MIND AND YOU WON'T GET HURT!

Man, so funny how riled y'all are getting. "SOMEONE ON THE INTERNETS IS WRONG!!!"

    Hug yourself and calm down.
