Costco is clean organized and the people there are friendly and helpful. LaKessia doesn't run the checkout line so you can get in and out without hassle. Sam's is now exactly like Walmart. A circus side show full of undesirables...

We got our first Costco last year and Sam's has cleaned up their stores. They both get into gas wars so right now their gas is about 15 cents cheaper than the cheapest independent station.

I got the regular membership offered a few months ago with the gift card and vouchers. I noticed after returning home that I had been charged for all the items that I had used the vouchers for. I returned to Sam's and explained what happened and was told that I had received the correct pricing, even though I showed the manager I had been charged for each item on my receipt, but showed no offsetting credit. He insisted I was charged properly even though he came up with the same totals I did. I held firm and he finally agreed I had been charged for a chicken I shouldn't have been. I asked how just the chicken could be wrong when all the items showed up the same way. After a crazy amount of time he finally said the checkout girl should not have scanned the items, just the voucher. He finally agreed to refund my money. This was absolutely crazy that he argued with me about something so simple and wasted so much of my time. So, if you want frustration, join Sam's club and try dealing with a manager about being overcharged.

^ Expectations too high, if they could do their job the problem would've been far less likely to occur in the first place.

Personally after trying several of these type "stores", I came to the conclusion that a person that spends $100 to join one of these, which seems to be the average price, you have more disposable income then you have brains.
The buildings are plain to the point of making me feel I am a rat in a maze. Then the abusive checkout lines, only to be compounded by the humiliating fact of not bagging your purchase, and then to be scrutinized at the door like a common crook, all in the effort to save THEM CASH, they chose not to bag your items, then imply that you might STEAL something.
That is more then I am willing to tolerate~~
It certainly is a great example of how the word SHEEPLE came to be.
Good luck, this is NOT FOR ME

Our local Sams is grey and depressing. Our local Costco is brightly lit and painted. Sams has more selection.. Just by the way Costco treats its help, I'd rather shop there, and the regular membership costs less and includes an American Express card on the other side of your membership card.

    An easy way to decide:

    Democrats and Independents=Costco
Republicans (and especially Tea Party-ers)=Sam's Club
