I think with a Harmony and only 2 HDMI sources (for now), I can live without HDMI passthrough. Am I missing something? I don't want to pay significantly more to future proof my receiver when the money could be better spent on getting quality sound.

Even 3 HDMI in / 1 out isn't going to be enough for my needs, so when I upgrade my receiver from 5.1 to 7.1 I'm just going to get a great deal on a non-HDMI receiver, and buy a HDMI switching box.

@2 yeah, you appear to be missing that it has no HDMI inputs or outputs whatsoever -- this is legacy technology.

Not all people need HDMI, in most situations Component will render an identical picture.

That being said, I bought this receiver last time a deal like this came out and I hate it. The sound is weak. My 5.1 Sony DB receiver drives the same speakers powerfully and with agility and you can hear much more of the sound spectrum clearly. This is clearly a budget buy from a brand that used to represent quality.

#9: Yeah i think so too. Last time i checked one out, it didnt sound too good. Obvious lack of power/clarity.
