The rebate is processed through 4myrebate.com and I've had a 100% success rate in past rebate submissions to them (about 25 different rebates so far).
As for this blu-ray player, I bought it the last time it was posted here on Bens (for the same price) and it's been working fine so far as a basic player. It came in a brown box (think OEM style packaging), so if you're thinking of giving this as a gift, just know that it won't look appealing on the outside, which is often the case with refurbs. Other than that, it's great for the price after rebate.
(Possibly a prized value in an elephant gift exchange at the offices, maybe?)
