Poor cooling on this card. When under load this thing sounds like a turbine. Plan on buying a different cooler for it if you are working it hard or overclocking it. Of coarse if you are not working it hard or overclocking it, save yourself some money and buy a slower card. Buy the time you buy this card and pay for a better cooler, you may just as well spend a little more and get a card that has a better cooler on it. In the end, you will money ahead.

^ The problem seems to be more the fan itself than the 'sink under it. Thin fans just need a lot of RPM to move much air then their shallower bearings wear out all that much faster.

I'd just take the shroud and thin fan off then strap on a decent dual ball bearing 80 x 25mm low RPM fan. That generally results in both quiet operation and years longer lifespan than the low quality, thin fans found on most video card heatsinks.

The down side to that option is it blocks and additional slot under the card, but for better air circulation I generally leave another extra slot under a card unoccupied anyway, and that if you want the card to power and adjust the fan speed then you need to splice/solder/etc the wiring onto the original fan connector leads.

I perused the 80 Eggview and noisy isn't the impression I was getting, heck the actual word "noisy" is never used in any of the reviews!

A few do say the fan that weren't to their expectations, especially if bumping the speed for OC'n. This single fan card isn't what I'd invest in if OC'n is high on my list. I do see there's some inconsistency in the quality perhaps, there's like 10% that seemed either DOA or went south quickly, however not much difference than many other card's or AIB's. Overall folks either love the card or there's 10-12% hate it, as some of bad has to do with rebate or waited too long to redeem games coupons.

As always thoroughly test and stress you card when you get it, if not what you expect RMA it back. Never cut the UPC for the rebate until you have a good two weeks with the card. Once you cut the UPC Newegg doesn't want it back.

I've had an exceptionally good experience with the 3 PowerColors’ a 6750, and two 6790's.
