a lot of comments on the site. apparently not backwards compatible to PCI Express < 2.1 . so not great as a cheap upgrade for many older PCs. if you are building a system that just needs cheap video (office desktop pc or an low profile HTPC), this may be a good cheap pickup. _If_ you get the rebate.

A good cheap pickup would be the cost of only a hotdog and a Coke...

^ These two cards are practically identical except for small PCB layout changes, including being half height and a single height heatsink. This one has a fan header if you wanted to ever add a fan but it shouldn't be necessary except in high temperature environments.

If you have some use where better matters, it might be worthwhile waiting for some other card at a higher, yet still discounted price.

Don't let swreynolds around a video card with a small fan on it, he'll throw it away...

Don't consider it an upgrade for any PC, it wouldn't be enough of an upgrade to bother with for that purpose with the exception that it should help accelerate HD video if the system had an ancient Intel integrated video chipset that couldn't handle it.

Sorry, #5, I wouldn't buy it in the first place. Only the expensive cards have fans with durability. The cheap ones rarely last past a few months. And what else can you do with a card with a broken fan? Try and buy a replacement fan?

^ Yes the cheap card fans often have short lifespan but you can put a drop of oil in every 9 months or so to improve that, or in a situation where I feel a card needs a fan I often swap in a larger, lower RPM fan so it runs close to silent still. Since those are harder to find with the smaller pin spacing on a video card fan header, I usually use a PSU 4 pin adapter cable.
