This and the extreme get pretty hot based on reviews. I prefer the ultra.

Yes gets hot but I haven't seen reports that it overheats, gets so hot that it stutters or locks up. All else being equal, the longer size offers more heatsink area than on the Ultra Fit, though obviously that longer size makes it less suitable to leave in a laptop/etc port.
