$24 price drop. Tiger Direct has the Sapphire Radeon 100315L HD 6850 1GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card for $108 - $15 rebate [Exp 6/30] + $2 shipping = $96 shipped. Features 2560 x 1600 max resolution, Microsoft DirectX 11, Shader Model 5.0, OpenGL 3.2, and Dual DVI, HDMI 1.4a, and DisplayPort outputs. Includes a free DIRT3 PC game coupon.
This is just what I need to soup up my old Commodore 64.
Dang, just paid $100 for used XFX.
This seems like a good deal but I'll wait for Casecutter to weigh in.
I hate rebates, but I feel ya Fannatick. Casecutter is the final word on this stuff
Check history, Casecutter fanboyz. He's written about the card at length in the past. It's a good deal.
Ok, so how much of an increase am I going to see with this card over my ATI Radeon HD 4870?
Weird. That's the same card I got at Casecutter's recommendation. Guess I am a fanboy....
Also, from what I remember him saying, the 4870 is almost as powerful as the 6870, so it should be faster than this card. I might be wrong in my recollection, though.
Yeah I was able to swap with my friend who bought a used comp that had the 4870 in it for my 9500GT, he needed a HDMI slot....lol
Over the 4870 only one rung higher and still fairly relavant other than Dx11, so no not enough to justify. You need to be 6950 or 7850 3-4 rung higher to se it as worth while. I'd hold till 7850 dip below $200 then think of moving.
Not a fan boy just a realist what $100 card give this much BfB a GTX460 is >$120 still

Is it worthwhile to upgrade from my 4850?
^ If you have a use for the 4850 once it's pulled, otherwise not so much unless you're really really into one game in particular and your card is only a little too slow for it to be enjoyable.
Might get me one of these
Actually, I just realized I have a 5870, not a 4870.
Then don't bother dorianh49 the 5870 destroys this step backwards easily.
