cause i tried it but it didnt work. the 12v pin wasnt even in the plog from the adapter.

^ Seems like you might have received a defective one, it has to have 12V in the PSU connector to power a 3.5" HDD.

Dave must be right. If you scroll down too the user's manual, in 3.2 it specifically says it supplies both 5 and 12 volts.
