NCIX has the Seagate ST95005620AS Momentus XT 500GB Solid State Hybrid Drive for $49.99 + $0.32 filler ($50 free shipping minimum) = $50 shipped. Features SSD-like performance with hard drive capacity, Adaptive Memory technology to optimize performance, and claims 80 percent faster performance than traditional 7200RPM drives in benchmark scores.
Wavering about these drives, probably go SSD. I like NCIX, tho paying shipping from CA usually bubaconerz their deals.

With prices coming down on real SSD's, just buy the real thing instead of this dud. These are always on sale for a reason.
I have a company laptop with a SSD drive and I've been throwing it around knowing that it is not going to break.
Hybrid drive still break if you drop your laptop. The small SSD hybrid section closing the gap between a real SSD and HDD. Should be good for a desktop kind of application.
Stop dropping your laptop.
Being a laptop thrower and dropper is something you shouldn't go public with... I'd hate to read about how you handle your other stuff...
Anyway, the momentus 500 uses older, 1st gen technology (whereas the momentus 750 is much upgraded). If your'e serious about buying this then at least check out these reviews: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Seagate-Momentus-XT-750-GB-Hybrid-HDD-Review/1474
I would seriously suggest against the momentus 500.
I own 2 and have no problems with them. Not SSD but a decent little HDD just the same. First one I dropped 90 beans on and still no regrets.
Complaining about the fact that this drive isn't SATA-3 (6gb/s) means you don't understand computers.
Did you graduate from computer understanding school?
