smallest dimension is 7.1". Not gonna fit in a standard 2x4 constructed wall. Or 2x6" wall for you northerners. Or am I missing something?

Yes you're missing that 7.1" is the shipping box dimension which includes foam or cardboard cushioning, and the Q&A section which mentions "Actual depth is 3.6" "

Practically any in-wall speaker (opposed to ceiling speakers) will fit within the width of a 2x4.
