This may be a Ben's Best award, but it has only received a Dave's "Not Bad" award...

These type of inconsistencies are proof that Dave is not Ben....

lol, I'd like it more if it had APFC and a dual ball bearing fan (which it might have - I'm just assuming it doesn't given the $40 original price), but it is a pretty good deal for $20 AR as I don't know of any name brand 600W with those features for $20.

    Dave, you'da man...

    Manufacturer's Product page:
    http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1247&ID=1898#Tab0

    Maximum Power: 600 W
ATX 12V V2.2 enables most reliable and robust power delivery
PFC (Power Factor Correction): Active PFC
Ultra silent 120mm fan with intelligent RPM control guarantees cool performance and silent operation
    Connector: 1x 20+4pin Main Connector

    Source:
    http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Power-Supply-240-Pin-W0388RU/dp/B002RWJGHM

Note to the casual reader, APFC may refer to:

    A. (Active) Power Factor Correction, measure power distribution to operate at its maximum efficiency

    B. Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation

    C. Albert Park Football Club

    D. Annfield Plain C

    E. Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner in Employees' Provident Fund Organisation of politicians

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APFC

However, for this discussion, the correct answer is "A"...

Amazon's listing is wrong, it does not have Active PFC, only passive PFC or as Thermaltake puts it, PFC "N/A"

General rule is, if it has a voltage selection switch it doesn't have APFC. Technically it's not impossible to have both, but there is no reason it would have both, no gain, only higher expense.

Can't it get a runner up medal for being 72% efficient? Maybe in pewter?

Sure, but instead of a medal let's give it a gray ribbon.

The Ben's Best award for pricing. I plan of getting a Thermaltake TR2 W0388RU 600W Power Supply T Shirt to let everyone know I belong, sort'a like the North Face guys...
