My experience with Trendnet products is not very good.
I recently purchased one of their products. the N150, TEW-714TRU from
Newegg
, which was featured here in the SIZZLING! section.
It had a mind of its own, sometimes it worked erratically, and it did not work at all at other times.
I returned it for exchange.
The replacement unit was completely defective.
Newegg
, as always, took care of the issue gracefully.
Documentation (manual, etc.), is one of the worst I have seen. You need a magnifier to see the text, aside from poor and broken English.
In my book, Trendnet is Highly NOT recommended. They need to get their act together. Very poor quality control.

I had a TRENDnet wifi router for years and never had any issues. Maybe I was lucky.

only issue (I believe) that the SSIS is hardwired and it is not a bridge to extend your current network.
could I use this as an extender for my U-Verse modem/router which is already 802.11ac and does not cover entire house.

I don't have this model, but I use a similar Trendnet AP for a guest network on a separate physical interface with pfSense. Guests get to a captive portal to sign in, and I don't have to give out my internal wi-fi password.

This would work for a great guest network. I love my friends and family, but I don't trust all their phones and having to repeat my password throughout my parties.
I've never had a problem with my Trendnet products.
