Out of curiosity, can anyone explain what in the modern world takes 8 to 10 weeks to do? Like, are they literally not manufacturing this until the promo's over and they know how many to make?

I used to understand that there were layers of non-electronic order aggregation, lots of self-addressed stamped envelopes, and transit times for all manner of paper documents, involved in such offers. And the 8-to-10-week typical time window made plenty of sense. I'm just struggling to understand it now.

They may be taking signups for a period of time then processing and shipping them all at once which can be more efficient, fewer man hours to pay for.
