    It's also public domain, so it's normally free, not $8.87.

    First science fiction book, in 1870? I don't think it is even in the running. It was neither Jules Vernes first science fiction book (Journey to the Centre of the Earth was published in 1864), nor was it technically even a book at first (it was a serialized story in a magazine.)

    Candidates for the first science fiction book include Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1726), Johanne Kepler's Somnium (1608), or even Gulliver's Travels (1726)
