If only I could get FIOS where I live! That is half of what I pay for lower bandwidth and fewer channels.
Until you throw in all of the add-ons such as $150 router if you don't have one, $30 for battery backup and $12 for each HD box. Don't get me wrong that it is still a better choice over Comcast but it isn't as good as it used to be at least for me. My bill for their Extreme HD ($120 at comcast) vs $130 for me will be close to $200 a month with 6 HD boxes.
It's the cable boxes that get you... I'm paying $53 per month for basic cable (no boxes) and 50/50 fios internet.
I'm paying $77 including taxes and fees for Triple Play 25/25 and a CableCARD for my TiVo. Bought my own Quantum Router on , so other than the CableCARD, I've got no other hardware I'm 'renting' from them, which keeps the costs down.
Currently have Fios, I like it better than comcast but they both treat their customers like dirt. The plan I currently have is EXACTLY the same as the middle plan except I get 50 mbs both ways new plan offers 100 both ways same price ( I am paying year 2 pricing) they offer me as current customer 7 more a month to get to 75 both ways. As somebody else says Verizon is famous for charging for **** you never get and they hope you never see it. If you do they are nice enough to remove the charge you should have never received ! and they sneak it in regularly. They also say don;t know why or what that charge but we will remove it.
We're 12 months into a 24 month plan: FiOS 50/50 Mbps, Basic cable + HBO + Showtime, with one cable box for the main TV (elsewhere we can watch with HBO's and Showtime's apps over Chromecast).
The bundle is priced as:
FiOS 50/50: $50
FiOS TV Local: $10
HBO: Free
Showtime: free
TV Box Rent: $12
Taxes & Fees: $5
Total: $77.44
We bought the Verizon router for $100 up front (3 * $33 payments), and we use Ooma for VoIP.
Service is very reliable (we've had FiOS since 2005 with just 2 outages lasting for a few hours), but would always like a lower price.
twc is offering 100/20 mbps with 200 channels and phone for $100 ($120 with tax and fees) in my area. no thanks verizon, you can keep your shitty fiber, i'll wait for google
edit:
same as another person, this deal comes out to about $140+ with fees and stuff

Verizon quit doing new FiOS installs years ago. Verizon wants to unload the wired business off to Frontier.
Verizon is a crooked as a snake, stay away.,
