Yep. On has to know the market price and not rely on referenced MSRP. It's very deceptive and annoying. I believe Best Buy is being sued over this because it entices people into buying now thinking they are getting a false bargain. Musical instruments, appliances, TVs, mattresses, furniture, etc have huge overstated MSRPs compared to the market transactional price.
