Since it can't be uninstalled, what are they going to do at the end of beta testing?

Word of advice for testing. Download virtual box, install Win 8, take a clean snapshot, revert back in case expiration screws you over.

I'll just pop a blank drive into the ol' basement computer and fire up some Windows 8.
    Again.
It might be better than the first preview.

This will be Microsoft's biggest flop yet, I except Service Pack 1 will be the Start Menu patch.

Most likely it will not stop working. It might give annoying messages or else tell you that you can't receive any patches or upgrades.

Every version of windows has been worse than what came before it. DOS FTW!

At old times, after trial period expired- You can try try to intercepts the kernel API calls that returns the current date and time (GetSystemTime, GetLocalTime, GetSystemTimeAsFileTime), and replaces the current date/time with the date/time that you specify. That works for previous trial version windows. But need to look into the Windows 8 to see if it still works.

Went to a Win 8 Dev conference and I think this product has chances. Essentially they are saying you develop one app and it will work on the mobile, pad and PC's, but what they seem to be doing is essentially targeting the pad market and touch screens and betting on them as the future rather than the mouse. If you don't think touch screens have a future or don't like them, you probably won't like Win 8.
