Fifty cents per page??? I do NOT think even Staples charges that much.

Update: sorry for the typo. I meant Stales does not charge that much.

^Dave if you carefully read what it said....."on demand and don't feel like spending up front of all the cost...." just go to staple and kinko for print out of what you needs at $.50 /per page. Didn't say anywhere it will be cheaper.

Simple math based on the Gilette razor blade business model: the less you pay for the printer the more you're going to pay to run it. They're going to get their pound of flash one way or the other.

^ So true, but, if you pick one that will take DIY toner refills, your costs to print are likely to be less than 1/4th as much

    Konica Minolta 1690 MF FTMFW.
And you can find a 4 pack of toner all colors for $95 bucks....
Scanner to PDF, email PDF, sheet feeder for scanner, color laser....
~180 on sale, that's $.06 a page.... for the first stock toners (3000 pages they claim 2500, but I got right at 3k)
or 3 cents on the next toner fill up at $95 bucks.

Still seems like a good deal if you just throw away the printer when the toner is out. FU, environment. I mostly print my stuff at work, so this will just be for urgent situations.

Mine hasn't been canceled yet. Fingers crossed.

^ No need to throw it away, you can get bulk toner w/chips, or entire 3rd party carts on eBay for $20 per color, or less if buying all 4, or 5 including an extra black. Assuming this comes with starter cartridges that's more pages per dollar than from the carts it comes with.
