Shmeagle, root your phone. Go to the XDA Developers site (Google them) and read. I did and it's the best thing I've ever done to my phone.
I know Fan. I looked it up and downloaded the various parts necessary and it still required a Java SDK download. I stopped there cursing Amazon among others.
