This would be a deal if you didn't have to drive a POS FWD Kia to get it.
actually... the car is pretty cool. the turbo models are sweet. fast, nice handling. i drove one with all the leather and electronics and i was damn impressed. ya ya i know its a Korean car and Kia is a new brand that you are unfamiliar with but the warranty is fantastic and Kia is like a sister company of Hyundai. i have a sonata turbo, the optima has the same engine and suspension. the sonata is awesome. i get nearly 40mpg on the highway and the car is fast and powerful. you cant get a better bang for your buck. my only issue with kia is the residual for leasing is a bit low. i think its due to brand still being on the young side. i expect it to improve as car shoppers are drawn into dealers with programs like this one and change their opinions.
this is still a free $25 bux for an hour of your time. seems worth it to me...maybe i'm not as wealthy as #1. in my world free $25 is also pretty cool....
Why would you want a Kia POS?
#2, in your world do you have a Kia dealer within walking distance? Otherwise 1/4 to 1/2 of the $25 would be wasted in transportation alone.
#2, curious of sonata turbo, it is interesting. do you feel that long turbo lag?
yes i am fortunate there is a dealer close. if i had to travel 20 or 30 miles to cash in i wouldn't do it either.
@kel789 - there is no notable turbo lag. i had reservations about that too. initially i went to look at the SE w/o the turbo and then i drove it. so much faster. i owned another turbo back in the 90's and the lag was terrible.
Turbo that small isn't going to have any lag. I'd be more worried about TQ steer.
Can't stand the commericals
Just bought an Optima SX a couple weeks ago. Love the car. I traded in my 98 Honda Prelude. There was no way an under $30k sedan was going to live up to the handling on Prelude, but I wasn't any more impressed with Mazda over Kia in that department. Kia's design team is headed by Peter Shreyer now who used to head the design team at Audi. There are a lot similarities in styling between Audi's and the new Kia's especially the Optima. Road noise is minimal even with the 18" low profile tires. I got the base SX for $24,967 (after Kia competitor rebate of $1,000). I didn't get any of the optional packages (Infinity stereo, NAV system etc.) which would add between $3k (no NAV) and $4.5k (w/ NAV). I also paid $500 for a remote starter that will be covered under warranty and $895 to extend the bumper to bumper through 10 years and 100,000 miles. Models with the turbo get 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. You can really feel it and there is no turbo lag. If youre in the market for a FWD four door sedan (honestly, how many people are looking for RWD sedans), the Optima is an excellent choice.
there is...and you can feel it if you punch it in a hard turn. however, the same can be said for pretty much all FWD cars and its a non-issue in most normal driving conditions. now with that said....i live in Florida and we dont have snow or ice to deal with. if i did....perhaps i might have more FWD concerns.
^ Which way did you mean that? In snow and ice a FWD car is vastly superior. Torque steer means little, pulling a car with FWD instead of pushing with RWD helps (given same tires/etc)... though if it weren't for snow and ice, I'd rather RWD.
I'd buy and I have looked at Hyundai's. I'm getting more impressed every year. Not sure if I've warmed up to Kia yet. Perhaps in a few years.
I've had better cars offer me more than 3X this and I would not want to jump thru all the hoops to MAYBE get a few $$$. Read the details of the offers and be ready for lotsa annoying sales pitches and phone calls.

i'm typically not really driving that hard. on nice dry Florida pavement... torque steer isnt a problem.
i've used several of these pay for test drive deals. some sales people will just sign your form and get you out quick and not waste anyone's time. i suggest getting a google voice number and give that to them. they can call all they want. i just delete the messages.
Hyundai owns Kia. Cross check their models and the styling and specs are simliar. Kia is Hyundai's performance line. Twenty years ago these cars were pieces of crap but the reliability has greatly improved over the years. Remember once upon a time small crappy cars from Honda and Toyota entered the American market, now look at them. Japan is scared of Korea right now. Honda even rushed out a newly designed Civic to try to compete better in that market segment only to have done such a bad job they are having to redesign the Civic again not 6 months later. Keep a watch on Hyundai and Kia.
The irony of it all is that those who drive KIAs have bad credit.
Hyundai and Kia is working similar to Samsung, slowing etching the Japanese market. They will be successful if their cars are reliable for real in the next 5 to 10 years. After the Toyota brake problem crisis, buyer finally realized the Japanese are good after all. It is a paradigm shift.
Just test drive it to get 25 bucks, that's a good deal
