Free month because people are leaving in droves and their stock value has plummeted. Forbes analysts say its only a manner of time and they won't pull out of the downward spiral. Great example of an incompetent CEO who single handily destroyed a successful company.

Corporate greed. No different from the big banks.

Completely agree with #1. It's like they are following the book "How to Destroy a Profitable Company in 6 weeks" word for word.

I bet...More like you'll have to change your credit card number to cancel. This company has demonstrated a track record of half truths with me.

Glad to see that the chickens have come home to roost.

Interesting that Ben deleted my original post here.

I like Netflix as a Dish replacement.

It supplements my local channels very well at $8 per month.

      You complainers can just suckit.

However, I do agree that Ben seems to Hawk too many things for his own benefit.

      I'm in agreement with #7.
There is no better service out there, and for the price you can't get anything near the speed and quality you get from Netflix.
If you think ballbuster is better go ahead and try them, you'll be back.
I can't wait for Netflix to add games to their lineup! Totally the best value for me.

While I don't like paying more for anything, it does happen sometimes that a company will change their prices. Netflix is not a bank, they have added services and changed the way a lot of people watch tv.
      My whole family loves it!

Check out Blockbuster. Movies or TV series that were listed on Netfix but only allowed you to add a queue meaning it will never show up on Netflix are on Blockbuster. I searched for several movies I rented previously on Netflix, Blockbuster had them. Ok it is $2 more a month to rent one DVD at a time but you can return movies to any Blockbuster or mail them back & i'd be another person sticking it to Trickster by switching to someone else & I can rent the movies I've been wanting.

Enjoy starz while it last. Next year they will no longer be with netfix.

Never again with these bastages. They bent over their loyal customers, gave a non-apology apology while flipping you off behind their back. They can crash and burn while the market fills in after their demise.

I still think netflix streaming is a decent deal. I do agree the overall company is shown well in it's stock in the last 3 months, from $300-$120, ouch. I do like the streaming, for the price and having 2 streams at once, I use the hell out of it. As far as discs, I have 6 different redbox kiosks on my way to and from work(4 outdoor and all 6 on the exact roads I take), so getting actual blu-rays to watch isn't a problem. I queue them in my phone, pull in, swipe my card and away I go, not as easy as hanging my arm out the window to drop off a netflix disk, but I get them quicker and for $1.50 each I can't complain. I've been an amazon prime member for 5 years (having many things overnighted for $4 or 2nd day for free it's paid for itself at least 10 fold) and the prime streaming selection is pretty weak. I don't really consider the streaming for my prime membership, it's just a perk. Vudu costs an arm and a leg for new movie HDX streaming, if I'm going to pay that much to stream 1080p with DD, I'll just go buy the blu-ray and get DTS-HD MA and be able to rip it to my HTPC and watch it in any room in the house at will.

When netflix loses Starz in a few months, I might have rethink my sub, but until then I'm happy to feed them $8 a month.

funny that ben considers the crimson locker full o' movies something that needs to be filtered. Are there better bargains than $1.50 for a blu-ray for a night or is it just too deep in bed with other vendors?

They had to raise prices because the mdeia outlets were essentially doubling their costs to Netflix.
