Forget about puny LED flashlights. Blast them with this 100 LED Aluminum Flashlight for $15 + $8 shipping = $23 shipped. It takes 4 AA batteries (not included) and has a rubber handle for a non-slip grip.

  • 9 LED Aluminum Portable Flashlight (Silver) = $4 + shipping
  • 3-Port Firewire + 5-Port USB 2.0 Combo PCI Card = $8 + shipping
  • Network Cable Tester with RJ-45 Crimping Tool = $5 + shipping

There's only a small handful of manufacturers that make reliable LED flashlights:

      -SureFire
      -Streamlight
      -Inova / Emissive Energy

The rest that you see advertised on here are crap.

Yeah, it takes 100 crap LEDs to put out as much light as a decent 6-8 LED flashlight. Notice they don't tell you the light output. Probably too embarrassed.

Heck 100 don't put out as much light as ONE new Cree LED. (Although to be fair the battery will last longer that way).

I'm sooo happy with my new Cree flashlights so far - pretty well constructed Chinese built semi-no-names. But yeah I wouldn't bet my life on them like a Surefire.

All that wasted energy. Al Gore would not be pleased.

Damn, if only it had 5 more LEDs!

If these are/were good binned LEDs (which is not likely at this price), 100 of them could put out as much light as one Cree LED, but the focus would be terrible and the head size unnecessarily large. Depending on the reflector in this which is hard to see well in the picture, a fair portion of that output could be lost or cast too far to the side.

There are plenty of reliable cheap LED flashlights, providing the following:

They don't try to overdrive the LEDs per LED spec, heatsink , or driver board (if so equipped) limitations, which may cause 'em to (cascade, in the case of multi-LED types like this) fail. There are of course plenty of bad cheap lights too.

They aren't assumed to be waterproof unless tested for this.

They don't use the ill-designed plastic battery holders that put 3 or more batteries side by side. I'm sure there's some flashlight out there somewhere that is designed well enough it can do this more reliably, but I've never had nor seen one.
