I've been using this brand for a while and did not see much trouble with them. I used to get 50 pack spindle at CC for $14.99. Still got tons of em left over.
I used to use this brand exclusively. That is until I realized that there is a big quality control problem. Many of them have micro particles on the active side and uneven dye coverage. Some even have coment tale like defects which is caused by the particles blocking the flow of dye during coating. So I hard workerand check the ones that I burned previously and found some of them can not be read. I examined closely and realized that there are missing dyes on many disks. So why pay the same price as Verbatim? I have switched to Verbatim since and am very happy.
Memorex uses about 6 different manufacturers for their +R 16x media. A couple of them are decent and a couple of them downright suck. There is no way to know beforehand if you're going to get MCC 004, RICOHJPNR3 or CMC MAG.M01.
To just make a blanket statement such as "memorex have always worked well for me" shows you don't know what the burp you're talking about.
I would suggest anyone interested in this to look for better media. Prefferbly anything thats MIJ.
Go check out vcdeasy.com for more info.
Well, the MCC 004 and ROCOHJPNR3 aren't too shabby. But the CMC Magnetics stuff sucks eggs. The problem is there isn't any real way to know until you get the package home and check it with DVD Identifier or Nero or something.
Fuji used to offer MIJ. They can easily indenified by the cake box cap and base. I don't think Fuji offers anymore MIJ. Some Maxell are MIJ but they rarely on sales. Grade A TY is too expensive and I have heard TY valueline have some defects from time to time. The price is still higher than Verbatim. So why bother with B graded TY? 8x Verbatim is $10 fro 100 with Google checkout and 16x is $15 recently. In by opinion, Verbatim is the best deal in town when facting both price and quality.
PS, some people said Bestbuy's Dynex is MIJ. I haven't gone out to a store since Google checkout with free shipping so I have no idea.
Black Friday is nearby.

This is a decent deal for not having to run out to the store. The brand is pretty good also.
Ultra-cheap generics like Matrix and Sonic are better than this Memorex stuff
Just stick with Verbatims and Taiyo Yudens. You can never go wrong those 2 brands
i agree with all the posts that talked about verbatim. they seem to be one of the best brands to buy.
From my past experience with Memorex, their quality are getting lower and lower. The CD-R, CDRW and DVD bought from them all had problems, either burning or being recognized. My verbatim and even those bought FAR on BF are better than them
I tried out Memorex media with its 100-disc 16x memorex DVD+Rs that cost $70 but were the worst pieces of crap possible. (Media code: CMC MAG.M01.
You just can't tell what you're going to get with Memorex -- Is It Real Or Is It A Steaming Pile Of Poop? Stay away.
My experience with Memorex is the same as #13. I had problems burning and wasting a couple before getting a successful one.
I've been using Sony and Memorex, both of which work great, even with my older DVD burner. If you have problems with DVD's becoming coasters, it may help to burn them at a slower speed. The burn lines will come out 'darker'.
I've burned hundreds of Maxells with no problems at all. Maybe I just got lucky with a good batch. At this price it's worth the risk.
how do you if you are cheap, get the GQ ones. lol. those are crap. hey everyone, GQ vs Maxell, which is better?
