uh, do these work OK - anybody? NewEgg has TDK DVD+ for $19
I previously bought a bundle of these Taiyo Yuden discs from this place few years ago. The problem was they would skip during playback on my two DVD players. I don't know how good they are now, but just in case if you are thinking of buying it I suggest you ask this place what is their return policy.
Last weekend I bought 100 Sony inkjet hub-printable DVD -R for $19.99 at Costco. They also had +R for the same price.
Beware of "Ben's" touts. I've also had problems with the bargain TY discs.
TY discs are good, these Value discs are a gamble. Sometimes you'll get a good batch and sometimes you'll get a bad batch.
I have been using Sony DVD-R from Costco for the last three years, and so far no problem with playback on all of my DVD players except one time I had a bundle with bunch of bad discs at the bottom of the bundle.
I was really into burning DVDs couple of years ago. I use these discs exclusively. They are OK, but at the time I didn't know that they were "value" TYs -- had I not I would've bought premium quality. It is just not worth burning, printing the top (now with these, I got printables) and then three quarters through a movie the playback starts to pixelate and may not recover. I bought some Sonys DVDs once. As far as I know, they don't even make printable. However, the build quality on them was outstanding. The top for glossy with gold in the logos and around the edge. I couldn't get one movie to burn properly on Sony DVDs. BTW, during this time I was using a Plextor 716UG -- a $200 external FireWire DVD writer. Also, TY has merged with JVC for marketing purposes in the US. Look for JVC just had run them through a disk ID and see if they show up with the TY premium code
