I've heard Taiyo Yuden makes crappy quality media. I'd recommend staying away from this deal. You have been warned!

I've went through 6 spindles of these 100 packs and not one coaster. They burn at 12x as well.

Work great for me. No coasters and relatively cheap. I use them to back up my kid's movies and they work no problem 1.5 years later and take a shitload of abuse and still play great. Just my .02.

    #5,
So you're saying they're overpriced and won't work after the warranty has expired??

I bought the unbranded TY 100 pk a few months ago and had no problems. All 100 burned fine at 12x (they were rated lower). I've also had the same luck with Verbatim and TDK. I would say TY quality is good, but so is a lot of other brands. The only turn off for me on these is the rather plain looking discs..there's no obvious way to tell up and down without marking on them (for most people anyways).

Memorex, Ridata and Ativa brands have given me problems in the past (Ritek was the worst with about 1/4 failure rate), so I generally steer away from those. That's from my own experience anyway, though what really matters is where they were manufactured (generally Japanese DVD media is considered high quality), but then I rarely have the time to do the research.

FYI - This is TY's valueline media. Supermediastore has the 200 pack premium line with free 200 pack paper sleeves for 58 including shipping. Plus, they guarantee authenticity.

    I agreed with #7.

For 4.7Gb, I have used TY for over 3 years, no problem at all. Some of the TY are so plain looking. I had to explain to my friends that their DVD were burn on good quality disk Smile

I also had good experience with Verbatim and TDK.

Most of my nightmare were given by Fujifilm DVD disk, purchased from Staples. Had to throw half of them away.

For DL, I would recommend Verbatim, no toast. I had some problem with Memorex DL, but I cannot conclude that Memorex disk is problematic, maybe it was just my software or burner.

    Just my two cents.

I bought a 50 pack of Staples brand DVD-R a while back and have not had a single problem burning. What's all the fuss about TY?

#15, TY is considered the best. This is not to say other brands are bad. BTW, when you buy Staples brand you don't know who actually made them. You may have gotten lucky with your Staples discs.

Anyone know if these are real TY? Wasn't there a rumor that Shop4Tech sells fake TYs?

#17, I've received fake TYs from Shop4Tech. Others have received genuine. Do you like to gamble?

#19, that's not my experience. I have burned several hundred TY value lines and got a 3% coaster rate. This mainly due to visible damage (scratches, etc.) on the data side. You may have gotten fake TYs.

BTW, Supermediastore has TY premium for almost the same price (200 for $58 including paper sleeves).
