I did a double-take on the "ideal for smaller rooms up to 8.5 square feet" line (that's smaller than a phone booth--"PHONE BOOTH"...you know...those things Superman used to change clothes in...awww, just Google it...).

Beware of -any- ionic air purifier near stuff with rubber belts or seals in it (like a VCRs or cassette players or 8-track tape decks...they're kind of...oh, just forget it...). The ozone rots the rubber (kinda like that orange slime that builds up on plastics in Florida...).

They missed a decimal point. It's 8.5'x10' or 85 square feet. Of course, something like this really should be described in cubic feet.

I have this by the way, it sounds like a small computer. It gets rid of cigarette smoke pretty well, but after a small bump, it makes a slight ticking noise.

is this unit quiet overall?

how does the Permanent filter work? Never need to change?

To clean the permanent HEPA filter, simply vacuum it four times a year and replace it back into the unit. An electronic filter-clean indicator alerts to when the filter needs cleaning.
